Serger Fun Hands-on class - Any Time Topper Jacket with Jennifer

About the Class: Join Sewing Machine Warehouse for a basic serger class.  Scared to try a project on your machine?  This is a fun and fast light-weight topper jacket class.  All three and four-thread sergers with rolled hem function can take this class.

Project Highlights:

  • Learn to use a rolled hem to finish the project edges.

Class Details:

  • Cost: $74.99 - includes pattern and the class
  • Date: Wednesday, May 22, 2024 - 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM or Saturday, May 25, 2024 - 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Skill Level: Suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced sewists.  You must be able to thread your own serger and be able to convert from serging to rolled hem.  If you need a class to learn how to thread your serger please contact the store for a private lesson. This is a project-based class and we will not be showing you how to thread your machine.  
  • Requirements: Must bring your serger in good working order, serger accessories (needle threader, tweezers, rolled hem stitch finger for machines that use a removable one), fabric and matching thread for project.

Supplies to Bring:

  • Serger in good operating order, with standard presser foot and foot control (power cord and foot control)
  • New serger size 80 needles for your machine (yep, that's right folks all serger needles are specific to your machine)
  • Fabric of your choice 2 1/2 yards of batik, cotton, rayon or knit.  A rayon or knit will create a topper jacket that will drape nicely
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and mat to cut fabric (best option is the rotary cutting)
  • Ruler
  • Marking tool (pencil or pen that will show on your fabric)
  • Scissors, clips or pins
  • June Tailor Fray Block (not the Dritz kind)
