Sewing & Quilting Class - Basic & Advanced

Sewing Classes

About the Class: Whether you're a novice hoping to learn the basics of sewing, or looking to perfect your skills, our classes are tailored to your needs. This is a purchased (Simplicity, McCall's) pattern class.  We do not create custom patterns in this class.  If you are looking for upcycling classes (taking apart one garment and making it into something else) please call the store and discuss private lessons, as this type of sewing is not able to be done in this class environment.

When:

  • Every Thursday: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Every Friday: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Every Saturday: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

What You Will Learn:

  • Reading patterns and understanding fabric layouts.
  • Techniques of cutting, assembling, seam construction, and finishing.
  • Construct basic projects like PJ bottoms.

What to Bring:

  • A simple project (Pillowcase, PJ Bottoms, simple skirt, easy top,  tote bag, etc.) with a purchased pattern. When picking a pattern please select something in the EASY section.  First-time projects should be with a woven fabric (cotton or flannel - no stretch fabric, you must have at least two projects completed before trying stretch fabric.)
  • Sharp scissors, straight pins, tape measure, matching fabric (must be prewashed, so it has already shrunk), and thread.
  • Sewing machine in good working order, foot control, presser feet
  • If you do not have a sewing machine we have them available for rent for $20 per class.

Safety Measures:  Class sizes are reduced and reservations are required to ensure safety.

Class Fee:  Each two-hour class is $40.00.

Cancellation Policy:  If you cancel more than 24 hours before the class, you'll receive a store credit for the class fee and can call back to reschedule to another available class. No store credit will be issued for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the class.
